Community Guidelines

Welcome to the AHAPAC Community!

The AHAPAC Online Community is a closed site designed as a communications hub for AHA and state hospital association staff to share resources and encourage discussions relating to political action committees and government relations. Membership to the AHAPAC Online Community is by invitation only and is not available to the general public.  To request membership for a colleague, please complete the “Have Feedback?” form, and a member of the AHAPAC staff will respond to your request.

Our online community has two distinct areas,  Open and Groups. Content in the Open area is available to ALL members of the AHAPAC Online Community; content in a Group area is only available if you have joined that Group. The heading on each page will help you determine if you are in an Open or Group area so you can add/view content respective of the members of the AHAPAC Online Community you want to reach.  The Open area includes the Dashboard (home page), Open Discussions, Open Resources, Members and Calendar. The Groups area will be marked by the name of the group across the top of the page and contains tabs for you to interact with that group through discussions, resources, and various other means.

The Community is a place where community members can:

  • Meet and communicate with colleagues.
  • Discuss the latest topics about fundraising ideas, legal questions, and grassroots campaigns and any other topic PAC or grassroots related.
  • Provide feedback on AHAPAC events and topics.
  • Learn more about what is happening across the PAC world.
  • Share experiences and learn from the experiences of others

Getting Started!

  • The Community thrives on its members and members’ participation.
  • Stay involved, make comments, add files and pictures, post ideas, give feedback about campaigns.
  • Post only information that you are comfortable with others seeing — and knowing — about you.
  • These guidelines are designed to help make participation for everyone a positive experience.

Netiquette

How you talk to others in an online Community is not that different from the way you would talk to others in real life. But there are some things you should be mindful of in an online environment:

  • Posting in all caps is the same as SHOUTING.
  • Don't use offensive language, be rude, use hate speech, or harass or spam other members.
  • No selling, solicitation, advertisement, or promotion of products or services is permitted on the AHAPAC Community. This is a place to engage with other members in a positive way, not sell your stuff.
  • Don't upload copyrighted or other materials that don’t belong to you.
  • Don't upload a picture that you wouldn't show your children — that means no pictures of nudity, or sexual content, violence, weapons, etc.
  • If there is an issue you’d like to report, flag the content or action, send a message to anyone on the AHAPAC team, or notify us at PACwebsite@aha.org. Please note that while AHAPAC has no obligation to delete content that you find personally objectionable or offensive, we will do our best to address any problems that may arise.
  • When there is a violation of our guidelines below, we may:
  1. Provide a warning to the offender
  2. Delete some or all of the content
  3. Temporarily or permanently terminate the offending member’s account (we don’t want to, so don’t make us).

Things to Remember

This site is for State Hospital Association PAC contacts only, and may be expanded out to other specific hospital related groups, such as Systems Government Relations officers and or individual state hospital government relations officers or PAC campaign leads.

  • AHA, AHAPAC and AHAPAC.ORG are not responsible for the content provided by users on the site and the content provided by users is their opinion and not that of AHA, AHAPAC and AHAPAC.ORG
  • Use common sense when reading any recommendations or advice and always consult a professional (e.g., your doctor, tax accountant, lawyer, etc.) when making any important decisions.
  • Our guidelines will evolve over time and we reserve the right to modify or change these guidelines without notice

If you have any questions about the AHAPAC Online Community, please send a message through the “Have Feedback?” form.  If you would like to request a Group page for a specific set of members of the Community, please use the “Request a Group” form.

We hope you enjoy your experience.  Please let us know how we can continue to improve the information we provide to the Community.
